Take A Picture; It Will Last Longer

The Walk Back From Krvavica

I was thinking of a title for this post, and this came to mind:

‘Take a picture; it will last longer.’

A line I haven’t used since I was a child.

A line that has nothing to do with this post other than that it has the word picture in it.

Let Me Get To The Point

I’ve documented this Adriatic Adventure with rambles (writing) and snapshots (picture taking).

The rambles require me to articulate my feelings, thoughts, and ideas. They need some level of vulnerability for the storytelling to feel authentic.

While I know I don’t always write from a place of vulnerability, it is one of my goals.

And so I write.

And I keep writing with that goal in mind. So thanks for reading - even when the posts get a tad reflective.

Tomić Property

The picture-taking requires me to be aware of my surroundings - it means I must be present.

Sometimes I take a photo of a lollipop I noticed on the ground.

Sometimes I take a photo of a flower growing out of a wall.

I am not looking to win awards with my photos of lollipops and flowers -haha! Just taking notice of the things around me.

Whenever I stop to take photos, I am in a state of joy. I kid you not.

Whenever I stop to take photos, I feel like I am looking at these moments through the eyes of a 10-year-old. I kid you not.

And so I will keep taking pictures.

Because who wouldn’t want to be in a state of joy?!

What adult wouldn’t want to see the world through the eyes of their 10-year-old self?

Ok, maybe not every adult would. But I think it’s fantastic.

And so I will keep taking pictures and writing about this Adriatic Adventure with these things in mind:

  • To write from a place of vulnerability.

  • To be in a state of joy when taking photos.

Why?

Because I think that’s where the magic happens…
