Embracing Change
This is the view from my balcony on a very windy day.
I think it’s incredible.
For almost two years, this view has been like a good friend, always there and ready to show me something new, something beautiful.
From my balcony, I’ve watched the waves in the Adriatic foam with intensity. That bura wind puts on quite a show.
I’ve watched some epic sunsets—a medley of orange, yellow, and pink.
I’ve watched the boats, the birds, the wind, the sun, and the moon move from one end to the other.
I’ve also watched my table and chairs move from one end of the balcony to the other. See: bura.
All of it has been a joy to watch.
Falling In Love With My View
I didn’t think much about the view when initially purchasing the apartment.
I wasn’t living in Croatia at the time, and I wasn’t even sure what I was going to do with the apartment.
And then I moved in.
And everything changed.
I fell in love with the view.
During a period of significant changes, the view gave me solace. It was kind of like comfort food without the food.
The view served as a reminder to enjoy the moment, to sit in the now, and to be thankful for all of it.
Day in and day out, Mother Nature’s artwork was my constant. And boy, did she deliver.
I was grateful.
Time For A Change
I’ve spent almost two years looking out onto the Adriatic Sea, the islands of Hvar and Brač, and, on a clear day, the Pelješac peninsula. All from my balcony. Not too shabby!
Soon, my view will change. Significantly.
A new building is set to go up in front of mine. And it will alter the view from my balcony.
Of course, I would love it if the view stayed the same. But I know that’s not the case.
And so I embrace the upcoming change.
In the scheme of things, this is not a big deal. I know that.
But it has served as a reminder to remain open to change. Because with change comes growth.
I am thankful for what I had and curious and excited for what’s next.
Stay tuned…
